St. Francis KCC - Religious Education
Announcements:
Religious Education Vision Statement:
Our K-12th grade Religious Education (RE) program seeks to support parents in their role as primary religious educators of their children by guiding children and youth toward a loving relationship with God, while also providing faith-building opportunities for parents and other adults in our community.
OBJECTIVES:
- To instruct students in the fundamental beliefs of their Catholic Christian faith.
- To make them aware of the rich history and Tradition of Roman Catholic Christianity.
- To open to them the wisdom and truth of the Bible.
- To help them learn to make moral decisions following the teachings of Jesus Christ and the guidance of His Church.
- To encourage their participation in the rich liturgical tradition of our Church.
- To enrich their prayer practices and provide opportunities to serve the community.
PROGRAM OVERVIEW:
We hold classes most Sundays, mid-September through late May. Classes are taught at age-appropriate levels in a respectful and supportive environment by volunteer catechists who share their own faith journey and are in compliance with the Los Angeles Archdiocesan Safeguard the Children and Youth program requirements of fingerprinting and VIRTUS training.

English Mass – Sundays @ 12:00 pm
Please join us!
Confession in English is available before 12:00 pm Mass by request. To schedule Confession or for more information, contact [email protected].
Faith in Action (FIA) Newsletter
Students can earn points for Heaven’s Treat Store by completing the Scripture Challenge (Kinder students may draw a picture) and the Review Questions/Family Activity on the FIA Newsletter. Heaven’s Treat Store is held twice a year.
Students are given a printed copy of the FIA in RE class. It is also available to print here:
Students should handwrite (not type) the Scripture verse and Review answers and give the completed FIA to their RE teacher at the next class. Students who memorize the verse may recite it to their teachers in class for 5 points.
RE classes with the most students completing the Scripture Challenge each week win the FIA class competition that week. Classes that win the most weeks will earn a class party!
RE Volunteers Needed
We are seeking volunteer catechists and helpers for our Religious Education program. Are you interested in sharing your faith with our youth or just looking for a way to serve God in our community? Please contact Paul Kim at [email protected] with any questions or for more information.
Volunteers will be required to complete a three-hour VIRTUS Protecting God’s Children training as well as fingerprinting, as mandated by the Archdiocese of Los Angeles.
Thank you and God bless you!
